Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) convened a two days Workshop on the Preparation of the proposed Sarawak Timber Industry (Compounding of Offences) Regulations at Wisma Sumber Alam, bringing together Sarawak State Attorney General (SAG) and Sarawak Security and Enforcement Unit (UKPS) from the state enforcement, legal and regulatory team.

Officiated by the General Manager of STIDC, the workshop reflects a proactive step towards strengthening the legal and enforcement framework under the STIDC Ordinance 1973. Over the course of the session, participants collaborated to develop clearer procedures and guidelines on the compounding of offences, including identifying compoundable cases and determining appropriate rates.

This initiative underscores STIDC’s continued commitment to enhancing transparency, improving enforcement effectiveness, and supporting a more sustainable and competitive timber industry in Sarawak.

Through constructive dialogue and shared expertise, the workshop marks an important milestone in ensuring that regulatory practices remain robust, practical and aligned with industry needs.
