General Information (STLVS)
Sarawak Timber Legality Verification System (STLVS) is a legality system covering the process of licensing, harvesting, transporting, manufacturing and trading of logs and timber products in accordance with the existing laws, regulations and procedures governing forests and timber trade (including the importation of logs and timber products) in Sarawak. The STLVS consist of 6 Principles govern by FDS and STIDC.
Compliance with STLVS requirements is mandatory for all parties involved in the timber industry in Sarawak, whether in upstream or downstream processing. However, obtaining a Certificate of Compliance for Principles 1 to 6 through a third-party STLVS audit remains voluntary and is driven by market demand. The STLVS Certificate of Compliance for Principle 5 (Mill Operations) and Principle 6 (Trade and Customs) is issued by STIDC to licensees who have successfully completed a third-party audit.
