STIDC BRINGS SARAWAK’S SUSTAINABLE WOOD AND FURNITURE INNOVATION TO BRUNEI’S 33RD CONSUMER FAIR AND TRADE EXPO

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 24 JUNE 2026 — Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) is officially on the ground in Brunei, showcasing the best of Sarawak’s furniture products at the 33rd Consumer Fair and Trade Expo (CFTE). Held at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas, the STIDC delegation will be connecting with regional buyers and visitors through to the final day of the expo on 28 June 2026.

As Brunei’s premier bi-annual trade event, this edition of the CFTE is one of its biggest yet, buzzing with over 700 booths, international pavilions, and dedicated business-matching sessions. For STIDC, the expo is a prime opportunity to spotlight Sarawak’s evolving timber industry, with a strong focus on high-value, sustainably crafted furniture and downstream wood products.

STIDC Industrial Development Manager, Lundy Joe Sibat, highlighted the significance of the exhibition for regional trade.

"Being here at the 33rd CFTE is a fantastic opportunity for us to connect face-to-face with our regional neighbours and partners. Brunei is an incredibly valued market for Sarawak," he stated.

He emphasised that the platform extends far beyond a typical trade showcase, acting as a window into the evolution of Sarawak’s timber sector.

"This expo isn't just about showcasing products; it’s about sharing the story of innovation and sustainability behind Sarawak’s timber industry today. We are really looking forward to the business-matching sessions to build genuine, long-term partnerships that will benefit enterprises on both sides of the border," Lundy added.

STIDC's strong presence at the expo includes dedicated exhibition booths showcasing prominent local players, namely Kayusar Sdn Bhd, Solo Timber Sdn Bhd, Brown Two Furniture and Hap Lee Fun Enterprise.

Commenting on the scale of the trade event, Ms Ting Chul San, Head of Corporate Communications at D'Sunlit Sdn Bhd, said the CFTE is more than a consumer fair; it is a platform to connect businesses and consumers, creating opportunities for networking, collaboration, market expansion and economic development.

The event was officially officiated by Brunei's Deputy Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah Tutiaty Binti Haji Abdul Wahab.
In addition to promoting wood-based products, Lundy highlighted the massive potential for industrial growth back home, inviting regional players to explore investment opportunities in Tanjung Manis. STIDC has been a key driver in transforming the Tanjung Manis economic zone into a robust industrial and commercial hub.

Beyond its well-established timber complexes, STIDC’s ongoing initiatives in the area include developing dedicated furniture parks, improving deep-water port facilities and expanding the integrated township. These developments not only expend STIDC’s exposure and direct involvement across these diversified sectors, but also aim to significantly increase the export value of its high-yield products by supporting high-value downstream activities, aquaculture and halal industries.

"We highly encourage international investors to look closely at the incredible possibilities Tanjung Manis has to offer," Lundy added.

"With its strategic location, ready-made infrastructure, and STIDC's comprehensive support frameworks, it is the perfect base for businesses wanting to expand their footprint in the ASEAN region."

The STIDC pavilion offers visitors a closer look at the craftsmanship, modern design and sustainable practices shaping Sarawak’s wood-based industries. The corporation’s team is available at the booth throughout the five-day event for business matching.

The event runs from 24 to 28 June 2026, and members of the public, trade visitors, and entrepreneurs are warmly invited to visit the STIDC showcase.
