STIDC Mid-Year Retreat Strengthens Strategic Direction
KUCHING, 15 July 2026 – Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC) concluded its 2026 Mid-Year Strategic Planning Retreat, held from 13 to 15 July at The Waterfront Hotel, restating its commitment to organisational excellence and the sustainable growth of Sarawak's timber industry.
The three-day retreat brought together STIDC's management and Heads of Divisions and Sections to review the organisation's strategic priorities, assess progress on key initiatives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and identify measures to enhance implementation and accountability.
In his opening address, the General Manager, Datu Haji Zainal Abidin bin Haji Abdullah, emphasised that the success of any strategy depends on effective execution, continuous monitoring, and collective commitment across all levels of the organisation. He also encouraged participants to share the retreat's outcomes with their officers to ensure organisation-wide alignment.
In line with Sarawak's goal of building a resilient and competitive timber industry, the General Manager stressed the importance of self-reliance within the organisation. He urged officers to be proactive, resourceful and accountable, while embracing innovation and continuous improvement. Strengthening internal capabilities, he said, will enable STIDC to respond more effectively to industry challenges and support the sustainable growth of the timber sector.
The retreat was attended by STIDC Advisor Yang Berbahagia Datu Haji Hashim bin Haji Bojet; Deputy General Manager Yang Berusaha Cik Hajah Haluyah Awi, members of the senior management team, and Heads of Divisions.
Guided by STIDC's 6 Shared Values, the retreat reinforced teamwork, accountability, and a shared commitment to driving organisational excellence and achieving the corporation's strategic objectives.
